11 Times Robert Downey Jr. Proved That He’s The Man With All The Right Answers

The only thing that can tell Robert Downey Jr. apart from Tony Stark is the Iron Man suit. Because just as Stark, he is witty, sarcastic, humorous and always, always has the right words to say.

They say that a troubled past can either take over you or, you can use it in the right way and join the league of the world-renowned personalities. The personalities who have seen the face of hell and worked hard to turn their life around. And their taxing journey of building the road from hell to awesomeness, has provided them with some real charisma. Now we can’t say for sure where Robert Downey Jr. got his bewitching charisma from, what we do know is that he too has had a rough patch in his life.

At age 6 when children are not ever aware of the term ‘drug abuse,’ young Robert’s father fed him marijuana, and consequently major chunk of his life from then on was spent in doing the rounds of rehab centres and jail. Thanks to his persistent efforts of getting rid of the drug phase, Robert Downey Jr. has remained sober since 2003. And today, all that he is known for is his committed work ethic and charming arrogance that gets us drooling every time he is live on talk shows.

And so, I present to you some of the best answers that would have lost their charm if they had not come from the man himself.

1. No Oscar yet? Who cares?

“As long as I stick around I’m going to end up with a bunch of them anyway as they’re going to run out of people to give them to. And I’m probably going to win it one year when someone else deserves to win it. Why? Because it’s my time, goddamit. And that’s the way sh*t works around here. I’m just an uptight mutt at the top of his game. Welcome to Hollywood, bitch! I’ll see you at the Vanity Fair party and I’ll be holding that golden statue you deserve ’cause guess what? It happened to me too!”

2. When he clearly mentioned about what Hugh Grant looks like to him

“I just thought he was a dick, that’s all. And I still do. You know, and that could be something that has to do with me, or it could just be that not everyone in this industry is someone I’d care to hang out with.”

3. Because it is him, and only him who can aptly describe just how dangerous drug addiction really is

“It’s like I have a loaded gun in my mouth, and I like the taste of metal.”

4. When he revealed his secret behind being so fabulous on-screen

“I know very little about acting. I’m just an incredibly gifted faker.”

5. Because he knows that staying human can sometimes be quite a task

“Do I want to be a hero to my son? No. I would like to be a very real human being. That’s hard enough.”

6. When he let out too much information about his behind-the-scenes shenanigans on the movie set of Weird Science (1985)

“I defecated in [Renee Props’s] trailer, much to the chagrin of Bill Paxton and Robert Rusler. It was a real bad scene. Joel Silver freaked. I never admitted it. Joel said, “Downey, did you do it?” and I said I wish I had. Because I’d been threatening everyone that if they didn’t treat me right, I was going to take a dump in their trailer, or that I’d go take a shit in Joel’s office, on his desk or something.”

7. Because sometimes, he is just like any other human being, with not many treats in his pocket

I’ve become a picky little bitch. I’ve never bothered to plan projects before. I just used to throw the script across the room and say, “Why do they keep sending me this horseshit?” And then I’d start rehearsals two weeks later.

8. Who else could talk about this strange truth of life, this perfectly?

“I think it’s miraculous that anybody survives themselves.”

9. Maybe he is what he is because of his dad, and this situation…

“The greatest thing my dad taught me came one day when I called him from a phone booth and said, ‘Hungry. No bus token. Please. Out of options. Friends aren’t picking up the phone.’ He said, ‘Pfft, get a job.’”

10. When a journalist asked him about why Sam Rockwell was missing from Iron Man 2 poster and the press conference…

“That’s enough. This is embarrassing. You’re embarrassing yourself.”

11. When somebody asked him if he ever dressed up as a superhero growing up

“Growing up, no, but in my mid-30’s in Palm Springs right before my arrest, yes.”

-Because he is sexy and he knows it :)
